PERSONALITY

Creative- His mind is always a jumble of different things and interests he’s bounced from in his past, which allow him to think in extraordinary, but mostly odd, roundabout ways. Ban used to write music for his traveling band, and still does sometimes, but he has mostly shifted gears to focus on scripting and maybe, his own novel some day.

Disorganized- At first glance, he looks sluggish and rather disorganized, and he definitely is, but it’s a systemized messiness. He has a general sense of everything around him, but it’s probably impossible for him to ever sort out his space just because he’s too lazy.

Confident- His ego is rather inflated after being in the (marginal) spotlight with his musical group, he finds it difficult to act humble despite his obvious insecurities. He’s just too used to pretending to be grandiose and over the top. He thinks he’s pretty funny though.

Helpful- He’s always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever asks and is in a sense a little bit of a push over just because he wants to please people, give them a good impression of him. Though he does get impatient when people can’t keep up.

Sneaky- tends to lie, for whatever reason but never maliciously. There really isn’t a reason most of the time other than he loves to be right. He over exaggerates and gets a little bit dramatic over small things.

Observant- Having spent the majority of his life traveling with a group of people, he’s becoming keen on watching people and their small physical cues. He’s extremely non confrontational and would prefer to just avoid issues rather than wasting whatever energy he has left on arguments.

Frugal- He’s obsessed with saving money, not because he lacks any, but for the security of knowing he has a lot of money. While he acts like a poor man, you can always find him buying some sort of odd thing that he definitely does Not Need.

HISTORY

Ban grew up in a large family as the oldest son, so the expectations his parents had for him were overbearing. They lived in a large but tightly knit community where everyone knew everything that ever happened, so he never had any time to himself. His only escapism from his suffocating environment was writing and his flute.

When Ban decided that he wanted to leave the village and become a traveling musician with his friends, his parents were outraged because he was to take over the family business but they had no means to stop him. He packed his bags and left to tour. His musical group wasn’t popular but they made enough money to keep living their dreams together. They spent 7 years together before Ban had enough, he was nearing his 30’s and realized he’s never had a peaceful moment to himself. He left the band and decided to travel alone with the money he’s saved. He first went home and made amends with his parents. Although they haven’t seen each other in years, Ban was still sending home letters. His parents weren’t resentful of him leaving anymore and were happy to welcome him home, although it was only briefly. Ban left a little while later to travel and live in forests, reconnecting himself with nature and started writing seriously, rather than just for relief.

Eventually his money started depleting too much for his comfort. He was only doing odd jobs here and there for small expenses but it was really time for him to settle down, he was getting old! (30 lol) When he received the letter from Toffee Town, he saw it as a great opportunity to reroot himself and begin a fresh start. He packed his few belongings and headed there without looking back.

ADDITIONAL INFO

Even though he carries himself all lazy and dishevelled, he does enjoy dressing up from time to time for fun.

Despite his age, and the fact that he freelance wrote mostly seriously articles, his guilty pleasure is young adult romance novels. They make him feel like he’s young again.
